A Legacy of Excellence

Transforming Eket through education and skill acquisition

The underdevelopment of Eket community, coupled with youth unrest and societal ills, motivated Dr. Emmanuel Ekott to focus on youth training. He believed that education and skill acquisition are the fastest ways to develop society and foster mental reorientation.

In 1997, as a young graduate, Dr. Ekott began offering O’Level lessons to secondary school students and dropouts to help them rewrite WAEC. The program was highly successful, but admission into tertiary institutions remained a challenge, especially due to financial constraints.

To address this, Dr. Ekott established a Part-Time Centre of OSISATECH Polytechnic Enugu in Eket in 1999. However, in 2001, the Federal Government ordered the closure of all Part-Time Centres of universities and polytechnics. Undeterred, Dr. Ekott embarked on the long process of establishing a private polytechnic in Eket.

After nine years of hard work and meticulous administration of limited resources, Heritage Polytechnic was approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Today, it stands as the largest and leading private polytechnic in Nigeria, offering over thirty accredited programs.
